It looks like tomorrow’s game might get cancelled due to poor field conditions. Santa Clara suggested to play it on Friday. This is my thinking. If the game does not change the outcome of the league standings (all depends on results this week) I propose to forfeit so we do not risk players injuries at that field.

My reasons: from what I remember and after watching our last game vs them last night, they like to attack with quick passes in the midfield and they do not tend to send long balls from the back (thus two players out front should be ok). From the video, it seems that their defenders had a harder time with filtered balls to space and also one-on-ones against our fast players (Armen, Jay, Vinnie, Jacob, and we can also send Ben at some point) on the wings. This is my thinking. Let me know what you think. For this to work, we will need a player in the midfield who can quickly transition from defense to attack (when Nordhoff attacks they tend to leave gaps in the midfield) and send our wings.

Man mark Juan(best player) with Lance first 15-20 to deny, delay, and tackle. The rest of the team can focus on playing, game plan, and not worry. I coached Juan for over two years. He’s talented but easily frustrated when thing’s don’t go his way. He tended to implode on himself and take himself mentally out of the game. If we frustrate him and go at their weaknesses and score early, we might make them wonder what’s happening. At full strength, when organized, we are FAR BETTER than when we last played. Our league record doesn’t show that. It shows a mid-table team in a far weaker league than theirs (no disrespect but Santa Paula, Fillmore, and Port Hueneme are all strong every year) I think this: Stamp our authority on the game from the first whistle. Start Bright! And show your Quality! Nordhoff will give you nothing easy Meet force with force! You have to want it more than them Fight and Win EVERY loose ball Shoot early and often!! That's it for now

Sorry all, I have a migraine I don’t think I’m going to make it. But I was thinking about strategy, we know Nordhoff will have majority possession of the ball. Defensively we need to be on point, from a system standpoint. Everyone needs to be on the same page. Juan is very skillful and likes to dribble and run forward, so on turnovers we need to take advantage of the space left in the middle and have someone creative lead the attack someone like Jackson? Kosuke is right, no one thought Japan could beat Spain, but their strategy was a fast and quick defensive scheme, pressure, force errors and capitalizing on turnovers.

I’ll send the invitations to last years varsity team. I’m not sure who was on JV. Juan can you make the announcement at assembly, I have a meeting at 9:45 not sure that I’ll be at assembly on time. My plan is to have a good warm up and play. I’d like to see players perform naturally without restrictions, to see where they are more comfortable.
